Chapter History

"During a Student Senate Meeting at York College of Pennsylvania that took place on March 24th, 2005, the Student Senate passed a motion for twenty-eight gentlemen provisional status as a local chapter of Kappa Delta Rho.

Throughout the year, the local chapter has been working diligently on academics as well as community service. During the two semesters on provisional status with the college, the chapter has completed two successful philanthropic events. For the fall of 2005 philanthropic event, the provisional chapter collected over two hundred toys and over four hundred dollars for the York Helping Hands for the Homeless. In the spring of 2006, our chapter raised over two thousand dollars for the Foundation for Peace.

At another Student Senate meeting one year later, April 4th, 2006, the same Student Senate passed a motion for active status of the Kappa Delta Rho local chapter. On May 24th of 2006, the chapter was given an award from the college stating that our chapter had the highest grade point average among all of the social organizations."

National History

On May 17, 1905, the ten founding fathers met  in room 14 of Old Painter Hall as the Charter Members of the newly formed Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity.  They left school and did not publicly announce the formation of the new Fraternity until the fall.

They drafted a ritual, open motto, and a constitution. Roman nomenclature was used  for fraternity positions, to emulate the stern Roman values. The coat of arms was designed and after they develop the ritual, chose colors and their flower.
